The Arizona Cardinals re-signed offensive lineman Greg Long and released tight end Deon Yelder, the team announced Friday.

Long, who signed with the Cardinals on May 16 as a rookie free agent, was one of five cuts the Cardinals made on Sunday to trim the training camp roster from 90 to 85 players.

The offensive lineman played just two offensive snaps in the Cardinals’ preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, a 36-23 victory for Arizona.

Long, who finished his collegiate career at Purdue, spent the first four years of his career at UTEP.

His coach at UTEP was Cardinals current offensive line coach Sean Kugler, who recruited Long as a high school prospect.

As for Yelder, the veteran tight end spent the beginning of training camp in Arizona after spending the 2021 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He spent the first three years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Yelder played 28 snaps in the preseason win against the Bengals, where he had two catches for 18 yards.

The tight end had a role in special teams too, registering 17 snaps there.

Rookie tight end Trey McBridge returned to practice this week after missing time with back spasms, and the team signed former San Francisco 49ers fullback Josh Hokit as a tight end on Thursday.

The Cardinals continue their preseason slate on Sunday, hosting the Baltimore Ravens at 5 p.m. on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
