Aug 21, 2022, 11:17 AM

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Sunday the team recalled right-handed pitcher Luis Frias from Triple-A Reno and optioned right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta.

Frias has appeared in four games for the D-backs in 2022, allowing nine earned runs, seven walks and three strikeouts over six innings pitched.

The righty has a 13.50 ERA this season in the majors but had a 2.70 ERA in his brief 3.1 inning stint with Arizona in 2021.

With the Reno Aces, Frias has posted a 4.09 ERA, 71 strikeouts and 25 walks over 24 games.

Uceta has played 10 games in 2022, allowing 11 earned runs, seven walks and 13 strikeouts over 17 innings pitched.

In 20 Triple-A games with three starts this season, Uceta has posted a 3.67 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 34.1 innings. Opposing batters have also averaged .185 against the righty.

Uceta was acquired by the Diamondbacks in October 2021 off waivers.

He played 14 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021, posting a 6.64 ERA over 20.1 innings.

Arizona looks to avoid the sweep against the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:10 p.m. on ESPN 620 AM or 98.7 FM HD-2.
