McCain blasts watchdog’s fight over Coyotes

PHOENIX — Sen. John McCain has called for Glendale, the Goldwater Institute and the Phoenix Coyotes to sit down and resolve their differences so the NHL team will stay in Glendale.

McCain appeared Friday on the Doug & Wolf Show, with Doug Franz and Ron Wolfley, on Sports 620 AM and said he is “very unhappy” with the controversy that has stalled the deal to sell the Coyotes to Chicago businessman Matthew Hulsizer. Hulsizer said last week that, in exchange for Glendale selling bonds to pay him $100 million, he would pay the city $25 million to reimburse it for losses this season and would guarantee any shortfall up to $75 million over the team’s 30-year lease of Jobing.com Arena.
