Diamondbacks claim RHP Reyes Moronta off waivers from Dodgers

The Arizona Diamondbacks claimed right-handed pitcher Reyes Moronta off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
In a related move, the D-backs designated infielder Jake Hager for assignment.
Moronta has 158 games of experience as a reliever across five MLB seasons. He spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco Giants before pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022. Los Angeles designed Moronta for assignment on Saturday.
The righty has thrown 23.2 innings this year in 22 appearances, allowing 17 hits and 10 walks for 11 earned runs. That’s a 4.18 ERA and 1.141 WHIP.
Moronta was heavily used by the Giants in 2018-19, having a combined 125 outings. His career ERA is 2.88.
Hager has played in 28 games for the D-backs this season with 59 plate appearances. He was claimed off waivers by Arizona in July 2021.
