New Diamondbacks pitcher Reyes Moronta reported to the team on Friday, Arizona announced.
Additionally, Arizona designated pitcher Chris Devenski for assignment.
The Los Angeles Dodgers designated Moronta for assignment last Saturday before the D-backs claimed him off waivers the following Monday.
Moronta has 158 games of experience as a reliever across five MLB seasons. He spent his first four seasons with the San Francisco Giants before pitching for the Dodgers in 2022.
The righty has thrown 23.2 innings this year in 22 appearances, allowing 17 hits and 10 walks for 11 earned runs, for a 4.18 ERA and 1.141 WHIP.
He’ll slide in as another bullpen arm for the D-backs, who have lost four of their last five games.
Moronta was heavily used by the Giants in 2018-19, having a combined 125 outings. His career ERA is 2.88.
This season (10 games), Devenski is 2-1 with a 7.59 ERA and 1.406 WHIP over 10.2 innings pitched. The pitcher joined Arizona’s ranks in 2021 after spending the first five seasons of his MLB career with the Houston Astros. He earned one All-Star nod with Houston back in 2017.
Arizona’s 40-man roster now sits at 39.
The D-backs are back in action Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. Tune to ESPN 620 AM and 98.7 FM HD-2 at 5:10 p.m.
