Report: Coyotes deal on last legs

As the Coyotes prepare for a first round playoff series in Detroit, they may also be readying themselves for a move out of Glendale.

According to The Toronto Sun, a source with knowledge of the negotiations say the deal to keep the team in Arizona is on its last legs.

The source, which requested anonymity, told the Sun Wednesday the arrangement that would see Matt Hulsizer buy the team from the NHL is “on life support.”

The tip would appear to confirm a report by Sportsnet Radio which said the deal is “all but dead,” and that the team will move to Winnipeg when the Coyotes’ season is over.

Radio hosts Nick Kypereos and Doug MacLean from The Fan 590 in Toronto say sources told them the move will be announced when the Coyotes are eliminated from the playoffs.

“I was told last night it wasn’t going to fly and they’re going to Winnipeg,” MacLean said.

The NHL, however, says that is not the case. Deputy commissioner Bill Daly said the league is still doing everything it can to keep the team in Arizona.
