SI writer says Winnipeg deserves the Coyotes

Sports Illustrated writer Peter King is known for many things, but hockey surely ain’t one of them.

A football guy, King is one of the more well-respected, in touch people when it comes to covering the happenings on the gridiron.

Hey, umm, Peter? Stick to football.

We get it, nobody outside of Arizona (and even some inside the state) thinks the Valley can sustain hockey and thus, does not deserve a team. And yeah, King was probably just trying to lift the spirits of one of his followers, so he may not even really care about what happens with the Coyotes. However, there is no doubt King did not see a sold out Jobing.com Arena during the playoffs, and I bet he hasn’t payed enough attention to the situation to notice the passion fans have shown when it comes to keeping the team here.

Hell, some could argue Winnipeg is deserving of a team, but you’d have to go up to Canada to find a good concentration of people who share a similar mindset. Also, given how it seems you could count the number of players who want to play in Canada over sunny Arizona on one hand, you really have to wonder why anyone would think the team should move.

Winnipeg deserves the Coyotes? Please.
