The Phoenix Coyotes have been rumored to be ‘hooking up’ with so many different potential owners over the last few years they are starting to sound like a soap opera character (or a pop star, take your pick).
According to Rogers Sportsnet’s John Shannon, It sounds like we may soon be able to add another name or two to that list. Although we’re not exactly sure which ones.
Bettman says, while Glendale is footing the losses, the city is also in discussions with potential owners…he says “more than one”.
Are the potential owners Matthew Hulsizer and Jerry Reinsdorf? Are they names we’ve never heard connected with the Coyotes and the City of Glendale before? We’re not sure. What we are sure of is that it would be nice if this entire drama came to an end soon and someone — anyone really — was named the new owner of the franchise.
Until then, at least we know a few people are kicking the tires on a franchise who hasn’t turned a profit in years while the city foots the bill.
