Arizona Diamondbacks RHP Zac Gallen is three outs shy of breaking Brandon Webb’s franchise record of 42 consecutive scoreless innings pitched after a 5-1 win vs. the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Gallen pitched 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts, one walk and no earned runs. It’s the eighth-longest streak without allowing a run in baseball history, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The last time he allowed a run was on Aug. 2, when his ERA sat at 3.31.

The August National League Pitcher of the Month is also the fourth starting pitcher of all time to pitch six consecutive scoreless appearances, joining Don Drysdale (1968), Orel Hershiser (1988) and Zack Greinke (2015).

During the six games, Gallen has pitched 41.1 innings, struck out 44 and walked eight. His ERA on the season sits at 2.42, while his WHIP is at 0.92, both career highs.

“Everything’s been timed up pretty well. I’ve been able to make some adjustments on the fly while I’m out there,” Gallen told Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke show on Friday.

“I felt like I’ve had pretty good confidence in all my stuff throughout the year.”

The Diamondbacks are 8-1 in the last nine games that Gallen had played in as the pitcher has posted a 7-0 record with two no decisions in that time.

The 27-year-old is in the last year of his contract before reaching arbitration in 2023.
