The Phoenix Coyotes announced Monday they completed a trade with the Calgarly Flames, acquiring center Daymond Langkow in exchange for right wing Lee Stempniak.
Lankgkow, 34, was with the Coyotes from 2001-03, but has spent the last six seasons with the Flames. He missed most of last season with an upper body injury.
“We are very pleased to welcome Daymond back to the Coyotes organization,” Coyotes GM Don Maloney said. “He is an intelligent, well respected, veteran center. His competitive, two-way game is a great fit for us and we are excited to have him back in Phoenix.”
Langkow has recorded 259-383-642 in 1,017 career NHL games, whereas the 28-year-old Stempniak tallied a 33-23-56 mark in 100 games with the Coyotes.
