TEMPE — Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Hollywood Brown’s arrival to the desert via a draft-day trade meant a couple of things.
For starters, it’s a reunion with college QB Kyler Murray and it gives Arizona a No. 1-caliber receiving threat.
It also meant that there was another speedster to contend with in the WR room, creating a debate as to who is the fastest Cardinals pass catcher on the roster.
But as of Wednesday, there has yet to be a race between Brown, Rondale Moore, Andy Isabella or any other takers.
“Those guys don’t want to race me,” Brown said Wednesday. “They put it out there. I’m always available at practice, before practice, after practice, whenever. Whenever they want to take up that offer, I’m here.”
Brown has already proven time and time again that he has the speed to contend with anyone on the football field.
He didn’t, however, run a 40-yard dash heading into the NFL Draft due to a foot injury he was rehabbing at the time.
As for Brown’s closest competition, that title likely belongs to Moore, who clocked an unofficial 40-yard dash time of 4.29 seconds during Purdue’s pro day in 2021.
But Isabella isn’t far behind, running a 4.31-second 40-yard dash during the 2019 NFL Combine.
NextGenStats has captured Brown, Isabella and Moore above 20 mph as ball-carriers, though Brown has ticked past 21 mph at least once.
For now, all we can do is sit back and wait for either Moore or Isabella to muster up enough confidence to challenge Brown.
