One team has dropped out of the race for Kevin Kolb

If the Arizona Cardinals are truly the front runner to land the Philadelphia Eagles’ Kevin Kolb, they’ll have one less team to compete with for his services. That is, if we choose to believe anything that is coming out in the media about the entire situation.

Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns beat writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, tweeted out sources have informed her Mike Holmgren’s team won’t be making an offer for the young quarterback.

The “news” comes as a bit of a surprise as many expected the Browns to be a darkhorse in the Kolb sweepstakes after acquiring a second first-round pick in 2012 from the Atlanta Falcons.

While Cabot sounds confident in her sources, this could be yet another example of a team bluffing in an attempt to drive down the price on Kolb. Which seems a lot easier to believe than the idea of Cleveland actually being in love with Colt McCoy as their quarterback of the future.

Thanks to the lockout the Kolb situation has of course become one of the highest stakes and longest games of poker ever. With all the contradicting information that continues to emerge on an almost a daily basis, we’re starting to think everyone involved might be hiding an awful lot of actual information behind some pretty good poker faces.

That or every team in the NFL in search of a quarterback has no clue what they actually want to do. The lockout has given general managers and coaches around the league a lot of time to second guess themselves.
