Coyotes Shane Doan scores 300th career goal

GLENDALE – Phoenix Coyotes captain Shane Doan reached a significant
achievement on Tuesday, scoring his 300th career goal.
Doan was able to beat Dallas goalie Kari Lehtonen at the 8:13 mark of the
third period for the milestone goal and it gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead in the
game.
Unfortunately for Doan and Phoenix, number 300 came in a loss–a 3-2
eight-round shootout loss to the Stars.
Doan, who is third on the franchise’s all-time list in goal scoring, has scored
293 of those tallies in a Phoenix uniform. The first seven goals of Doan’s
career came as a 20-year old rookie in Winnipeg, where the team resided
before moving to the desert in 1996.
Doan is the 20th active NHL player to reach the 300-goal plateau, and the 2nd
player to reach that mark this season. Martin St. Louis of Tampa Bay scored
his 300th career goal in a 4-1 loss to Boston on October 8th.
Doan and the Coyotes play host to the New Jersey Devils Thursday night at
Jobing.com Arena in Glendale.
