The Ain’t No Fang podcast: Is Zac Gallen a top-5 D-backs pitcher all-time?

Sep 9, 2022, 7:15 AM | Updated: 9:21 am

Arizona Diamondbacks RHP Zac Gallen has not given up a run in over 40 straight innings, knocking on the door of history.

He set the MLB record for the most starts to open a career with three or fewer runs allowed.

So where does Gallen rank among the top starting pitchers in Diamondbacks history?

It feels a bit early to ask the question, seeing as how Gallen only has about two years of service time. However, his numbers in Arizona warrant the conversation.

Gallen is eighth in pitching WAR in the franchise’s history. Yet all of the pitchers ahead of him have at least 195 more innings pitched. Some like Miguel Batista and Patrick Corbin are simply on the list due to longevity.

In The Ain’t No Fang podcast, Steve Zinsmeister and Cody Fincher discuss Gallen’s place among Diamondback legends, and if his scoreless innings streak could propel him up that list.
