The Arizona Cardinals on Saturday placed offensive lineman Cody Ford on injured reserve and made five other roster moves ahead of the Week 1 matchup vs. the Kansas City Chiefs.
Wide receiver Andre Baccellia and offensive lineman Max Garcia were signed to the active roster, outside linebacker Devon Kennard and cornerback Jace Whittaker were elevated to the active roster from the practice squad as standard elevations and cornerback Javelin Guidry was released.
Arizona traded a 2023 fifth-round draft pick with the Buffalo Bills for Ford this offseason after starting guards Will Hernandez and Justin Pugh dealt with injuries late in August. If one of those two were not available, Ford would be next in line at either guard position.
Garcia, who was signed off the Giants practice squad, played in 36 games at guard and center with Arizona over the last three seasons and made all of his 11 starts with the Cardinals in 2021.
Kennard, an Arizona native, was cut from the Cardinals on Aug. 29 and later returned to the practice squad. He played in 28 games and made seven starts over the past two seasons.
Whittaker has been on the Cardinals for the last two seasons. The corner has played in six games, recording seven total tackles on defense and special teams.
Guidry was claimed off of waivers from the New York Jets on Aug. 31 and was projected to be the fourth corner on the roster for Week 1 behind Byron Murphy, Marco Wilson and 2022 seventh-rounder Christian Matthew.
Baccellia signed as an undrafted free agent out of Washington by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, spent one week with the New England Patriots later that season and found his way to Arizona in 2021.
He was one of the players waived on Aug. 30 this year due to roster cuts but was signed to the practice squad the next day.
He played in one preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals where he recorded one reception for four yards and one touchdown from QB Trace McSorley. He remained sidelined for the rest of the preseason due to an ankle injury.
Rondale Moore will miss the contest against the Chiefs on Sunday with a hamstring injury, leaving an opportunity for players like Greg Dortch, Andy Isabella and Baccellia.
Baccellia got the call over another candidate from the practice squad in Victor Bolden Jr.
