Tkachuk and Roenick bound for Coyotes Ring of Honor

The Phoenix Coyotes Ring of Honor is getting two new
members this season.

The team announced on Wednesday that former captain Keith
Tkachuk and center Jeremy Roenick will join the elite
group in separate ceremonies this year.

Tkachuk, who started his NHL career in Winnipeg, moved
with the Coyotes to Phoenix in 1996, and registered a 52-
goal season in his first year in the Valley. It is the
only 50-goal season in Phoenix team history. Tkachuk
scored 179 goals in a Phoenix uniform before being traded
to St. Louis in March of 2001. He’ll be inducted into the
Ring of Honor on December 23rd when the Coyotes host the
St. Louis Blues at Jobing.com Arena.

Roenick was acquired in a trade from the Chicago
Blackhawks prior to the 1996-97 season and went on to play
six seasons with the Coyotes in two separate stints (1996
to 2001 and 2006-2007). He ranks third in Phoenix team
history in goals scored with 152. Roenick’s Ring of Honor
ceremony will take place on February 11th when the Coyotes
take on Chicago.

Tkachuk and Roenick will be the sixth and seventh players
to be inducted into the franchise’s Ring of Honor.
They’ll join Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull, Thomas Steen, Dale
Hawerchuk and Teppo Numminen as members.
