Despite his best efforts to overcome a chronic foot injury that has limited him to appearing in 10 games over two seasons and forcing him to sidelines early through fall camp this August, Arizona Wildcats center Carter Wood announced on Instagram Monday that the injury will prevent him from competing this season.  The injury effectively ends his collegiate career.

Prior to Monday’s news, Wood was expected to be the team’s starting center when the Wildcats’ season begins Sept. 3 vs. UT-San Antonio.  In his place, senior Cayman Bundage — a starter at left guard for Arizona the past two seasons — and junior Zach Hemmila will serve as the primary contenders for the starting job.
