The Arizona Cardinals defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 29-23 with a game-winning fumble recovery returned for a touchdown by cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. in overtime.

Isaiah Simmons knocked the ball away from receiver Hunter Renfrow with a big hit, and Murphy Jr. returned it 62 yards for the score.

There was a review to see if Murphy Jr. dropped the ball before crossing the goal line, but the call stood.

The Cardinals erased a 20-point halftime deficit to force overtime, as they scored the game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion with zeroes on the game clock.

Murray scrambled from three yards out for the touchdown and found wide receiver A.J. Green in the back of the end zone on the two-point try.

They scored 16 fourth-quarter points, while the defense stood strong in holding Las Vegas scoreless over the final 16 minutes of regulation.

Arizona received the opening kick of overtime and drove into Raiders territory. On fourth-and-short from the opposing 37-yard line, Murray’s pass hit receiver Hollywood Brown’s hands but safety Duron Harmon knocked it away for a turnover on downs.

The Raiders drove down to the Arizona 39-yard line before the turnover.

The Cardinals became the 17th winning team with less than a 2% chance of victory at one point in the game over the last seven seasons, per NextGen Stats.

The win gives the Cardinals a 1-1 record heading into their first division matchup next week against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Raiders fell to 0-2.
