Report: NHL could be exploring ‘Plan B’ for Coyotes

Mar 22, 2012, 4:34 PM | Updated: 5:37 pm

Whether it’s legitimate, or just another report from the
Canadian press predicting the impending demise of the
Phoenix Coyotes’ future in the desert, another report on
the matter has surfaced.

Darren Dreger of TSN tweeted the following Wednesday
evening:

and then…

All three cities mentioned by Dreger have workable arena
situations. Quebec City has Colisée Pepsi, which opened
in the late 40s, and housed the NHL’s Nordiques until
their move to Colorado following the 1995 season. And, a
new state-of-the art 18,000-seat arena is scheduled to be
open in 2015.

The Sprint Center in Kansas City holds over 17,000 for
hockey, and Las Vegas has several options for NHL teams,
including the Thomas and Mack Center and MGM Grand Garden
Arena, which has played home to preseason dates for the
Los Angeles Kings since 1997.
