GLENDALE — Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner is officially active for the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
Conner had been dealing with an ankle injury suffered in Week 2 and entered the matchup as questionable. He did not practice with the team on Wednesday but did get some limited work in over the final two days of practice this week.
Through two games this season, Conner has recorded 17 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown. He’s also caught seven balls (10 targets) for 55 yards.
Having Conner in the mix gives the Cardinals another option in the backfield along with Eno Benjamin and Darrel Williams. After Conner left Arizona’s Week 2 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the duo of Benjamin and Williams filled in admirably.

It’s a good sign for Arizona, which leaned on the run game greatly in the team’s lone win over Los Angeles last season. The Cardinals as a team ran for 216 yards and two scores on 40 carries in the 37-20 win in 2021.
Cardinals inactives for Sunday include cornerback Christian Matthew, running back Keaontay Ingram, linebacker Myjai Sanders, offensive lineman Lecitus Smith and defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter. Wide receiver Rondale Moore (hamstring) and linebacker Ezekiel Turner (ankle) were already ruled out ahead of the matchup.
As for the Rams, safety Jordan Fuller is inactive after dealing with a hamstring issue this past week. He joins center Brian Allen (knee), cornerbacks Cobie Durant (hamstring), David Long Jr. (groin) and Shaun Jolly, wide receiver Van Jefferson (knee) and quarterback Bryce Perkins.
The Cardinals take on the Rams at 1:25 p.m. Tune to Arizona Sports 98.7 for all the action.
