Coyotes coach appreciates hard-working team

It would have been easy for the Phoenix Coyotes to quit at
many points during their first round series against the
Chicago Blackhawks.

Between losing key players to injuries, giving up late
goals
and generally being a less-talented team than the one they
are playing, there are plenty of reasons to just lay down
and say “it wasn’t meant to be.”

But that has not been the Coyotes’ way all season, and it
hasn’t been in the playoffs, as they currently hold a 3-1
series lead and are on the verge of reaching the second
round for the first time since moving to Arizona.

“It’s interesting as a coach,” Coyotes boss Dave Tippett
told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf. “You get a group
of
players and you fight through some adversity and players
can
either go one way: they can say ‘poor me’ and use it as a
crutch or they can use it as a motivator.

“Our group has used our situation as a motivator from day
one and you love to see them have success just by putting
the work in, led by their captain Shane Doan.”

Tippett’s appreciation for his team is understandable, and
it seems as though the Valley is starting to feel the same
way.
