Arizona Cardinals to participate in NFL international flag decal initiative

Sep 28, 2022, 4:05 PM | Updated: 4:24 pm

Players and personnel of the Arizona Cardinals are participating in the NFL’s international flag decal initiative.

As the league looks to build its international audience and connect with fans in other countries, players can wear a decal on their helmet of the flag that represents their heritage.

The decals will be on the helmets starting this week and through next week. And it won’t just be the players participating, as over 200 league personnel — coaches, owners and executives — will take part.

As for the Cardinals, they have a roster full of players of different historical backgrounds. In addition to the team staffers, there are 10 players participating in the league’s initiative.

  • QB Kyler Murray – South Korea
  • C Max Garcia – Mexico
  • OG Will Hernandez – Mexico
  • CB Marco Wilson – Puerto Rico
  • DL Leki Fotu – Tonga
  • DL Michael Dogbe – Nigeria
  • OLB Victor Dimukeje – Nigeria
  • ILB Tanner Vallejo – Ecuador
  • LB Jesse Luketa – Canada
  • TE Bernhard Seikovits – Austria

Murray is representing South Korea to pay homage to his mother, who is Korean.

In a statement, the Cardinals quarterback said, “[Wearing the South Korean flag decal is] a great way to honor my mom, honor my heritage and highlight the diverse backgrounds that make up the NFL.”
