ARIZONA COYOTES

Coyotes, Kings know each other well

As the saying goes, familiarity breeds contempt.

If it holds true, the Western Conference Final series
between the Phoenix Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings will be
one that is not short on, shall we say, physicality?

“Obviously, this is playoff hockey, so we know what to
expect,” forward Boyd Gordon said. “I think it’s going to
be emotional and I think keeping your discipline is key.

“We haven’t had a problem keeping our discipline, so far,
so hopefully more of the same.”

The Coyotes will need it, because they are facing a Los
Angeles team that is playing as well as anyone in the NHL,
having already dispatched both Vancouver and St. Louis,
the top two seeds in the Western Conference, with relative
ease.

But don’t look at the Coyotes to be intimidated or
nervous. After all, these teams squared off six times this
season, with each winning three times.

Needless to say, their is little to learn on either side.

“Between pre-scouting and knowing their personnel and
being in the same division, there really are no secrets,”
Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. “You’re going to have two
teams that are going to play hard and each team is finding
a way to win.”
