Mic’d up Cardinals DL Zach Allen breaks mic on career day vs. Panthers

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Zach Allen was mic’d up during Sunday’s road game against the Carolina Panthers.
Well, at least he was for some of it before breaking the microphone altogether.
But that didn’t stop the 2019 third-round pick from garnering six tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack en route to receiving a game ball from head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Allen also added three pass deflections and two QB hits in the 26-16 win against his college defensive line coach and current Carolina DL coach Paul Pasqualoni.
The game didn’t start all that smoothly for the 25-year-old defensive lineman, however.
While sitting on the bench awaiting the coin toss at midfield, Allen incorrectly called heads out loud.
Then after the Panthers elected to differ to the second half — meaning the Cardinals would receive the opening kickoff — the fourth-year pro got ready to take the field while coaches were calling for the kick return team.
Guess Allen forgot which side of the ball he plays on.
But the mind games didn’t stop there.
Allen also “negotiated” a sack for a pancake block with Panthers center Pat Elflein, with the Cardinals defensive lineman joking that the sack had to come first but the pancake block would never come.
Looks like he got his wish.
