Coyotes avoid punishment for Game 5 conduct

Needless to say, the Phoenix Coyotes were a frustrated
hockey team just over a week ago.
They had been outplayed, eliminated from the Western
Conference Finals by the Los Angeles Kings in five games.
And they felt that they were the victims of some shoddy
officiating for much of the Los Angeles series.
After several members of the Coyotes verbally lashed out following Game
5, NHL director of hockey operations Colin Campbell
threatened fines and possible suspensions upon further
review.
That won’t happen, according to ESPN NHL Insider Pierre
LeBrun.

The league never identified which players were talked to,
but captain Shane Doan, forward Ray Whitney, goalie Mike
Smith and defenseman Keith Yandle all made inflammatory
comments toward the officiating after the Coyotes’
postseason ouster.
