State of the Sun Devils podcast: ASU’s upset win over No. 21 Washington

TEMPE — On the latest episode of the State of the Sun Devils, an Arizona Sports podcast, Jesse Morrison, Jeremy Schnell and Jake Anderson break down ASU’s 45-38 upset win over No. 21 Washington.

The trio discusses the performance of backup quarterback Trenton Bourguet after coming on for starting QB Emory Jones, who exited the game with an apparent head injury while sliding on a scramble in the second quarter.

Bourguet was 15 of 21 (71%) for 182 yards and three touchdown passes to one interception.

So, with Arizona State’s offense looking the best it has all year, that inevitably poses a serious question:

Should interim head coach Shaun Aguano — who picked up his first win on Saturday — make a switch at quarterback?

Aguano’s postgame press conference hinted at a possible QB battle, as the interim coach said he wasn’t going to name Bourguet the starter, but did elude to competition in the quarterback room.

Morrison, Schnell and Anderson all give their opinion as to what they think will happen if Jones is healthy enough to play at Stanford on Oct. 22 following the bye week.

The trio then gives its prediction of how many wins the Sun Devils (2-4, 1-2 Pac-12) can obtain this year, with one of the three co-hosts still believing the team could be eligible come bowl season.
