Bissonnette sounds off on NHL labor problems

Sep 13, 2012, 6:48 PM | Updated: 8:13 pm

Paul Bissonnette is one of the most well-known members of the Phoenix Coyotes not because of what he does on the ice, but rather because what he says off it.

And what he says, specifically, on his @BizNasty2point0 Twitter page.

Bissonnette took to Twitter to discuss the NHL’s ongoing labor problems, which could lead to the league’s second lockout in less than 10 years. And, while what the player said is not exactly unreasonable or even untrue, it is likely to offend some folks.

If one can separate the emotion that comes from owners arguing with players over more money than most of us could ever hope to make, one would realize Bissonnette’s thoughts are not really that upsetting.

While hockey fans have a right to be upset about the idea of their sport not being played, that’s still no reason for players to cave in and take less compensation for what they do.

After all, while they certainly appreciate the fans they are, in fact, playing for themselves and hoping to earn a living while doing so.

And knowing that, taking less money when they could (right or wrong) earn more doesn’t seem to make much sense.

Or dollars.

(See what I did there?)
