The Arizona Cardinals are hoping to get wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown back from a foot injury in six weeks, reports Arizona Sports‘ John Gambadoro.
Brown suffered a foot injury in the team’s 19-9 loss to the Seahawks in Seattle on Sunday and an initial report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that the team feared the wideout could be lost for the year.
However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported that Brown’s injury isn’t as bad as expected and is “a small, non-surgical fracture” following an MRI, but the receiver will be getting a second opinion from Dr. Robert Anderson before moving forward.
Rapoport added that pending the second opinion, Brown “should land on IR but be back fairly soon.”
And with the Cardinals on Monday activating All-Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins to the 53-man roster, as well as trading for wideout Robbie Anderson from the Carolina Panthers, Arizona could have a three-headed monster at the wide receiver position upon Brown’s return.
Brown being out for six weeks would put him on schedule to return in Week 13, which is the Cardinals’ bye week.
That means Arizona’s Week 14 contest on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots at State Farm Stadium will be the first game Brown could return for, which would give the injured WR eight weeks to recover from his foot injury.
Brown has by far been the Cardinals’ best pass catcher in his first year in the Valley.
He leads the team in every receiving metric, including receptions (43), targets (64), yards (485) and touchdowns (three).
And when you realize that tight end Zach Ertz is next on Arizona’s list of most-productive pass catchers, the additions of Hopkins and Anderson will be welcomed with open arms by head coach Kliff Kingsbury and quarterback Kyler Murray.
