Track the deadline-day trades: Chubb to Dolphins, former Cards RB Edmonds to Broncos

Nov 1, 2022, 11:49 AM | Updated: 2:17 pm

Check back for more NFL trade action ahead of the 1 p.m. MST deadline on Tuesday.

Here are all the of the deals from Tuesday morning up until the deadline:

Broncos trade OLB Bradley Chubb for picks, RB Chase Edmonds

The Denver Broncos traded pass-rusher Bradley Chubb and a fifth-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for a 2023 first-round choice (via San Francisco), a 2024 fourth-rounder and former Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds.

Chubb has posted 5.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in eight games this season.

Edmonds was averaging 2.9 yards per carry on 42 attempts this year. He signed with Miami after four years with the Cardinals.

He could have a chance to play as Denver has been searching for a clear No. 1 running back after Javonte Williams was lost for the season due to a knee injury. Veterans Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray have been taking snaps of late.

Cardinals play: at Broncos, Dec. 18 (Week 15)

Chiefs send CB Rashad Fenton to Falcons

Cornerback Rashad Fenton is on his way from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Atlanta Falcons in a cap-clearing move for the latter, reports NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Fenton has 24 tackles in five games this year, with an additional two passes defensed.

Cardinals play: at Atlanta, Jan. 1, 2023 (Week 17)

Falcons deal S Dean Marlowe to Bills

The Buffalo Bills acquired reserve safety Dean Marlowe from the Atlanta Falcons, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Marlowe has 11 tackles in eight games.

Cardinals play: at Atlanta, Jan. 1, 2023 (Week 17)

RB Nyheim Hynes heads from Colts to Bills

The Indianapolis Colts traded running back Nyheim Hines to the Bills, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Buffalo is sending running back Zach Moss the other way, with Indianapolis getting a sixth-rounder in 2023.

Hynes has 18 carries for 36 yards but is a change-of-pace threat in the passing game. He’s got 25 catches on 28 targets for 188 yards so far in 2022.

Cardinals play: None

Steelers acquire Washington CB William Jackson

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Steelers bolstered their secondary on Tuesday, acquiring cornerback William Jackson from Washington in a swap of late-round draft picks.

Pittsburgh sent a conditional sixth-rounder in 2025 to Washington for Jackson and a conditional seventh that year.

Jackson, who signed a three-year contract for $40.5 million before last season, had fallen out of favor with Washington’s coaching staff earlier this season and was benched for performance reasons. Jackson has also been bothered by a back injury, which sidelined him for the past three games — all Commanders victories attributable in part to improved play on defense.

Trading Jackson rather than cutting him allows Washington to save on the salary cap next season.

The Steelers are looking for help in a secondary that has struggled to stay healthy and effective. Pittsburgh effectively benched Ahkello Witherspoon in the second half of last week’s loss to Philadelphia after being beaten on multiple touchdown passes by Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Cardinals play: None

Denver gets back pass-rusher Jacob Martin from Jets

Fifth-year pro Jacob Martin is heading from the New York Jets to the Broncos. Denver will trade a 2024 fourth-round pick and receive a 2024 fifth-rounder in exchange, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Martin has 1.5 sacks this year and produced a career-best four last season.

Cardinals play: at Broncos, Dec. 18 (Week 15)

49ers send RB Jeff Wilson to Dolphins

Running back Jeff Wilson is headed to the Dolphins for a 2023 fifth-round pick, reports Schefter.

He was by far their leading rusher with 468 yards but became expendable with San Francisco’s recent acquisition of star Christian McCaffrey.

Cardinals play: vs. 49ers on Nov. 21 (Week 11), at San Francisco Week 18 (date TBD)

Suspended Falcons WR Calvin Ridley to Jags

The Atlanta Falcons traded receiver Calvin Ridley to the Jacksonville Jaguars, ESPN confirmed. The return is a 2023 fifth-round choice along with a conditional fourth-rounder in 2024, but Ridley was suspended for the year due to betting on NFL games, including his own team.

Cardinals play: at Atlanta, Jan. 1, 2023 (Week 17)

Bears nab WR Chase Claypool from Steelers

AP — Wide receiver Chase Claypool is heading to the Chicago Bears.

A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press the Pittsburgh Steelers have traded Claypool to Chicago for a second-round pick in the 2023 draft. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal was not official.

The trade gives Chicago quarterback Justin Fields a downfield threat in an effort to boost a passing attack that ranks last in the NFL, averaging just 126.9 yards per game.

Claypool has 32 receptions for 301 yards and one touchdown this season for the Steelers (2-6). He also threw the first touchdown pass of his career in last week’s loss to Philadelphia with a short flip to fullback Derek Watt on a gadget play.

Cardinals play: None

Lions trade TE T.J. Hockenson to Vikings

AP — The Minnesota Vikings acquired tight end T.J. Hockenson from the division rival Detroit Lions a few hours before the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, adding another skill-position standout to a high-caliber offense for the NFC North leader.

The Vikings simply downgraded two draft picks with no net loss to make the swap with the Lions. They sent a 2023 second-rounder and a 2024 third-rounder for the Lions, for a 2023 fourth-rounder and a conditional 2024 fourth-rounder. The Vikings announced the deal, pending completion of Hockenson passing a physical exam.

Hockenson has been one of the league’s most productive tight ends since the Lions picked him eighth overall in the first round of the 2019 draft out of Iowa. He made the Pro Bowl in 2020 and has 2,068 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns in 47 games.

Cardinals play: None
