The Arizona Cardinals on Wednesday signed defensive tackle Trysten Hill off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys and placed running back Darrel Williams on injured reserve.
Williams was listed on Wednesday’s injury report with a hip injury. He was a part of the three-person running back rotation on Sunday that featured primarily Eno Benjamin, Keaontay Ingram and Williams while starter James Conner was sidelined due to injury.
His trip to IR will keep him sidelined for a minimum of four weeks.
Hill was cut on Tuesday by Dallas after playing in the first seven games of the season but was listed as a healthy scratch for Sunday’s contest.
Arizona reportedly considered trading for him at Tuesday’s trade deadline prior to getting him on waivers.
He was a second-round draft pick out of Central Florida in 2019 but only appeared in 25 games with five starts over the four seasons in the NFL.
In those 25 games with Dallas, he totaled 33 tackles, four for a loss, 11 QB hits and 0.5 sacks.
Hill totaled 71 tackles, 20 for a loss, six sacks and a forced fumble in his three years at UCF. He added a one-yard rushing touchdown on the ground in his final year.
The move comes after injuries to the defensive line have limited depth. Defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence was placed on injured reserve on Thursday and the Minnesota Vikings rushed for 173 yards on Arizona in Sunday’s game.
Arizona on Wednesday also signed linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill and released kicker Rodrigo Blankenship.
