Not a whole lot went right for Arizona State football through three quarters of Saturday’s game against No. 10 UCLA, but wide receiver Elijhah Badger continued to show why he’s a top receiving threat in the conference.

Badger made a smooth one-handed touchdown grab in the third quarter, channeling his inner DeAndre Hopkins to start what would be a massive comeback bid for ASU, which fell short in a 50-36 defeat.

The receiver made a sweet inside move on the defensive back in coverage, Kenn Churchwell III, to gain separation toward the back corner of the end zone.

Quarterback Trenton Bourguet delivered a strike to where only Badger could grab it.

Another angle:

The score was 35-10 before Badger reeled in the impressive score, and ASU cut the deficit to six points, 42-36, in the fourth quarter.

The Sun Devils scored 18 unanswered points to climb out of a hole, but the Bruins stamped the game with a touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter.

UCLA left Tempe with its eighth victory, while ASU fell to 3-6 with the loss — 2-4 in Pac-12 competition.

Badger finished the game with eight catches and 83 yards receiving.

The Sun Devils will face Washington State next week on the road.
