After about a week of speculation, the Arizona Cardinals signed free agent running back Chris Johnson to a one-year deal Monday.
Johnson enters a crowded running back room, but is expected to share the workload with incumbent starter Andre Ellington and rookie fourth-round pick David Johnson.
The seven-year veteran once signed a four-year, $53 million deal with the Tennessee Titans, but he won’t be seeing that kind of money this time around, according to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
#Cardinals deal with RB Chris Johnson a one-year contract for #NFL minimum of $870K. No SB. Has to make PB, rush for 1,300 yds to make $2M.

Johnson last ran for 1,300 or more yards in 2010 when he amassed 1,364 for the Titans. That was the year after he became only the sixth player in NFL history to eclipse the 2,000-yard mark when he ran for 2,006 in 2009.
In case you’re wondering, the last Cardinals running back to make the Pro Bowl was Johnny Johnson in 1990.
