Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul (right heel soreness) and backup guard Landry Shamet (concussion-like symptoms) will not play Friday at the Orlando Magic.

Paul was listed as questionable before getting ruled out before the game, per AZCentral’s Duane Rankin.

Orlando’s (3-9) first overall pick Paolo Banchero is out as well due to an ankle injury. He did not play in a win against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, the first missed game of his career.

The Duke product in 11 games (all starts) is averaging 23.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists on 46% shooting. Before the missed game this week, he put up his first two 30-point games in a row.

Banchero, 19, was the fifth teenager to post consecutive 30-point games, joining LeBron James (2003), Devin Booker (2016), Luka Doncic (2019) and Zion Williamson (2020).

For the Suns, Shamet was the primary offensive weapon off the bench against the T-Wolves, scoring 16 points in 19 minutes for a team that’s shorthanded.

The Suns won’t have power forwards Ish Wainright (personal reasons), Cam Johnson (meniscus surgery) and Jae Crowder (trade request) for the game in Orlando.

Phoenix (8-3) started Cam Payne in place of Paul on Wednesday and saw the backup point guard score 23 points to go with eight assists and six boards.

Booker led the team with 32 points, while Mikal Bridges added 31.

No Paul and Shamet will leave the Suns with just Booker, Payne and two-way guard Duane Washington Jr. in the ball-handling rotation. Wing Josh Okogie could see some time in that role too.
