Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum donated $5,000 in order to host a food distribution event at Eisenhower School of Innovation in Mesa on Nov. 1.

As a result, the 11-year veteran set a record with his fifth NFL Players Association Community MVP Award for Week 10 this season.

“I’m honored to be named this week’s NFLPA Community MVP,” Beachum said. “I have always believed that access to nutritious foods and clean water are basic human rights … I feel a strong responsibility to serve others and be a catalyst for the solutions to significant problems our communities are facing.”

Beachum, accompanied by fellow Cardinals players, handed out boxes of food and produce to more than 200 underserved families in the Mesa area.

He also signed autographs for those who wanted them.

“At the end of the day, it’s about being a good human,” Beachum said. “The world is going through a lot right now and anything you can do to bring light to it, that’s impactful.”

As part of winning the reward, Beachum receives a $10,000 donation to a charity of his choice from the NFLPA. Moreover, he is eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is the highest community praise the Players Association can give a player.
