The Arizona Diamondbacks made a second tweak to their pitching lineup in as many days on Thursday.
The team announced right-handed pitcher Jeremy Hellickson was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring and, in a related move, recalled right-hander Chase Anderson from Triple-A Reno.
Hellickson’s last start was Monday, a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 5.1 innings of work, he gave up three hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out four.
Anderson was optioned to Reno on Wednesday, but the injury allowed him to be recalled ahead of the 10-day minimum. He’s gone 5-5 with a 4.51 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 21 starts this season.
In his last start against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Anderson gave up nine hits and seven runs in just 4.2 innings.
Hellickson has gone 9-8 with a 4.60 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 23 starts.
