Arizona State football’s offense may be without one of its playmakers in Friday’s Territorial Cup matchup with Arizona.
Running back Daniyel Ngata was not in uniform during warmups. He did not play in the rivalry game last year, either, although he gained 60 rushing yards and scored a touchdown in ASU’s 70-7 win over the Wildcats in 2020.
Ngata is behind 1,000-yard rusher Xazavian Valladay on the depth chart, but he has been an efficient runner when given the opportunity.
The redshirt sophomore has gained 5.0 yards per rush this season on 54 attempts. He has also caught nine passes for 54 yards.

His carries have decreased lately, as he received only 12 over ASU’s last three games.
Friday was his first missed game of the season.
Valladay was shaken up on ASU’s second drive of the game, leading to Tevin White getting a carry. White lost his redshirt status by doing so.
Left guard LaDarius Henderson was also not dressed for ASU Friday, missing his sixth consecutive game with a finger injury.
ASU is looking to win its sixth straight game over their rivals.
The matchup will kick off at 1 p.m.
