It was not pretty at times for the Suns Friday night, but Phoenix edged out the Detroit Pistons 108-102 at Footprint Center.
Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker paced the Suns as the center led the way, dumping in 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Booker had 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Phoenix started slow from the field, shooting 3-for-17 (17.6%) from three. The Suns slightly recovered finishing 7-of-29 from three and 48.3% overall from the field.
The Suns had four double-digit scorers as Cam Payne (16) and Mikal Bridges (15) joined Booker and Ayton.
Ayton’s 12 rebounds led Phoenix as his physical presence was imprinted early on in the game with one of the best dunks of the center’s career.

The Suns’ win gives Phoenix a one-game lead over the Denver Nuggets for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and third-best record in the league behind the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics.
The Suns will bounce back Saturday night with another home game against the Utah Jazz, another team just a game behind Phoenix for the No. 1 seed.
