Arizona Cardinals re-sign WR Andre Baccellia to practice squad

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed wide receiver Andre Baccellia to the practice squad on Wednesday.
Baccellia was released from the team on Monday following Arizona’s Week 12 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The wideout had been signed to the active roster the Saturday prior to the defeat.
Baccellia has been on a bit of a yo-yo this season, spending time with both the practice squad and active roster.
Through six games in 2022, the wide receiver has caught five of his seven targets for 32 yards. He’s picked up three first downs and sports a long of 11 yards.
Baccellia gives the Cardinals another potential option at wide receiver with both Rondale Moore (groin) and Greg Dortch (thumb) dealing with their respective injuries.
Moore suffered the groin issue a play into the team’s Week 11 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and was inactive this past Sunday. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury remains hopeful the wide receiver could get some work in when the team reconvenes after the bye week.
It’s the latest injury for Moore, who has also dealt with knee and hamstring issues. He’s missed four games in 2022.
In the eight matchups he has been a part of, Moore recorded 41 receptions (56 targets) for 414 yards and a touchdown.
Dortch exited the loss to the 49ers with the thumb ailment and underwent an MRI the following day. Kingsbury was not overly concerned with the injury, adding it was more of a pain management deal than anything else, though the WR did not suit up against the Chargers.
Dortch has proven he can be an important piece in the offense, especially when filling in for Moore.
Through 11 games played, Dortch has reeled in 34 balls for 324 yards and two scores.
“Anytime he gets the opportunities, he’s going to make plays,” Kingsbury said last Wednesday. “It’s just the finer points that he’s got to continue to work on in our offense and gain the trust of those quarterbacks snap in and snap out.”
