Arizona State quarterback Emory Jones officially entered the portal as a graduate transfer on Monday.

Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro was the first to report the move on Dec. 8.

Jones arrived in Tempe last offseason after four years playing for the Florida Gators. After Jones started the first six games of the season, he was injured in the middle of the second quarter against Washington and didn’t return. Backup Trenton Bourguet filled in and led the Sun Devils to an upset win over the then-ranked No. 21 Huskies.

Jones then started the following game against Stanford, a loss, before Arizona State went with Bourguet versus Colorado the next week. He was the starter from there. The only action Jones would see the rest of the way was when Bourguet was pulled against Washington State and Jones finished the game.

On the year in eight appearances, Jones threw for 1,533 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions, completing 62.8% of his passes.

Jones, of course, was brought to Tempe by Herm Edwards, who agreed to part ways with the program in mid-September three games into the season.

Kenny Dillingham is the new head coach and retained interim head coach Shaun Aguano as part of his staff.

Bourguet is back with the Sun Devils and they also landed BYU quarterback Jacob Conover in the transfer portal, a four-star recruit that played for Aguano at Chandler High School.
