The Arizona Cardinals said that they expect the State Farm Stadium roof to be closed for the team’s Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots.

As of Monday morning, the weather forecast calls for evening showers to begin about the same time as the 6:15 p.m. kickoff.

There is a 35% chance of showers at 6 p.m., with rising likelihood through the end of the game. Temperatures were to be in the mid-40s during the game.

Fans attending the game in Glendale can call 623-433-7663 for roof updates.

The Cardinals also are asking fans to arrive early and be prepared for the game attendees adding to the regular weekday rush-hour traffic. Parking lots open at 2:15 p.m.

Monday Night Football is expected to bring heavy traffic on westbound Interstate 10 in Phoenix and the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway in Glendale, according to state transportation officials.

Glendale will close the northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Indian School Road, Camelback Road and Cardinals Way and the southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Glendale Avenue from approximately 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to assist with the flow of traffic.

Fans coming from the southeast Valley should use the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway to avoid I-10 traffic in downtown Phoenix, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

To manage post-game traffic, Glendale will close southbound Loop 101 off-ramps at Cardinals Way and Camelback Road from approximately 8:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. North- and southbound Loop 101 HOV off-ramps at Maryland Avenue will be closed from approximately 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tune to 98.7, the Arizona Sports app and ArizonaSports.com for the game. Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. MST with pregame coverage starting at 1:30 p.m.
