Cardinals’ Zach Allen active for Monday night tilt vs. Patriots

TEMPE — The Arizona Cardinals’ second-leading sack getter and defensive lineman Zach Allen is officially active for the team’s Monday Night Football matchup against the New England Patriots.
The lineman was a surprise addition to Arizona’s injury report on Saturday with an illness and considered questionable for the game.
Getting Allen in the fold is a big boost for the Cardinals pass rush. Entering play, only J.J. Watt (6.5) has more sacks on the team than Allen (4.5) in 2022.
Allen has had a knack at blowing up plays before they can get going, too, registering a team-high nine tackles for loss. He has also recorded seven passes defensed, second to only cornerback Marco Wilson (eight).
Defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter (back) is also active.
The Cardinals, however, will be without the services of wide receiver Rondale Moore (groin), cornerback Byron Murphy Jr. (back) and Rashaad Coward (chest), who were all ruled out ahead of Monday night. Safety Charles Washington (chest), quarterback Trace McSorley and linebacker Jesse Luketa are also out for Monday night.
As for the Patriots, running back Damien Harris is officially out after entering the contest as doubtful. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (concussion), cornerback Jalen Mills (groin) and offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn (foot) were ruled out ahead of Monday. Safety Joshuah Bledsoe, linebacker Cameron McGrone and defensive lineman Sam Roberts are also inactive.
Losing Meyers is a tough loss for New England. Through 10 games played, the wideout paces the team in receiving yards with 593, touchdowns with three and is second behind only running back Rhamondre Stevenson (56) in receptions with 50.
Tackles Trent Brown (illness) and Yodny Cajuste (calf/back), who both entered the matchup as questionable, are active.
