Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray exited the team’s Monday Night Football matchup against the New England Patriots due to a non-contact knee injury.

On the third play of the game, Murray scrambled out to his right with space to pick up some yardage.

As Murray will do with room to run, he planted his feet to make some hesitation moves.

When Murray attempted to do this, Murray quickly didn’t plant another step down after appearing to sustain the injury.

Murray stayed down on the ground in pain before getting carted off, clearly dejected while having a towel over his head. He waved to the crowd as he exited the field and was replaced by Colt McCoy. The Cardinals called Murray questionable to return due to a knee injury before ruling him out at the start of the second quarter.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Murray will undergo further testing on Tuesday and one source said, “It doesn’t look good.” Reporting from ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss further supported that from a source telling him there is “little doubt” that Murray’s ACL is torn.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said afterward it “doesn’t look good” for Murray.

The fourth-year quarterback was in his second game back after missing two due to a hamstring injury.

Murray this season has completed 66.3% of his passes for 2,359 yards, 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s also carried the ball 66 times for 415 yards and three additional touchdowns.
