Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Zach Allen will not play against the Broncos in Denver on Sunday, head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday.
Allen suffered a hand injury in the third quarter of the team’s 27-13 loss to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football.
The head coach added on Wednesday that the lineman underwent surgery on his hand and did not know if it was season ending or not.
This has been a career year for the 25-year-old Allen, who is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
In 13 games played in 2022, the defensive lineman has registered career highs in sacks (5.5), tackles for loss (10), passes defensed (8) and QB hits (19).
Meanwhile, cornerback Marco Wilson appears to be good to go after picking up a stinger on Monday night.
“He looks like he’ll be OK,” Kingsbury said.
Wilson stayed down after making a play late in the first quarter prior to coming off the field, going into the blue medical tent and then eventually heading to the locker room before being ruled out.
This season, the second-year pro out of Florida has accumulated one interception — which was returned for touchdown — eight passes defensed, one forced fumble, 54 tackles, two tackles for loss and one QB hit in 13 games played.
Wilson’s improved health status will come as a relief to Arizona’s cornerback room, which has seen No. 1 CB Byron Murphy miss each of the last four games due to a back injury.
The Cardinals on Tuesday also announced that they released corner Trayvon Mullen Jr.
