The Arizona Cardinals announced Tuesday the team has signed quarterback James Morgan to the practice squad and released QB Carson Strong as a corresponding move.

Morgan was drafted No. 125 overall as a fourth-round pick by the New York Jets in the 2020 NFL Draft from Florida International, but he did not see any game action in his rookie year despite being on the active roster.

He spent last season with the Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts, all on the practice squad.

Morgan transferred from Bowling Green before playing at FIU and appeared in 44 games over his collegiate career.

He completed 57.2% of his attempts for 8,654 yards with 65 passing touchdowns and 34 interceptions combined for the two schools.

The QB was added to the Cardinals’ practice squad seven days ago for quarterback depth after Kyler Murray deals with recovery from an ACL tear and Colt McCoy remains in concussion protocol.

Strong went undrafted out of Nevada where he threw for 9,368 years, completed 68% of his passes and threw 74 touchdowns to 19 interceptions over three seasons.

In place of McCoy on Sunday was third-string QB Trace McSorley, who threw for 95 yards and two interceptions on 7-of-15 passing in the loss to the Denver Broncos.
