Suns’ Chris Paul suffers left calf injury in win over Grizzlies, says he is ‘good’

Dec 27, 2022, 8:38 PM | Updated: 10:06 pm

Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul exited Tuesday night’s 125-108 win over the Grizzlies in Memphis due to a left calf injury.

With the Suns leading the Grizzlies 97-80 at the end of the third quarter, the Bally Sports Arizona television broadcast showed Paul limping to the locker room with an ice pack on his lower left leg.

Paul had his leg tangled up with Memphis guard Dillon Brooks earlier in the ballgame.

The Suns point guard spent a little bit of time testing it out while grabbing at his lower left leg and limping.

Paul, as he usually does, stayed in the ballgame and was mostly moving fine. He checked out at his usual sub-out time of 4:18 remaining in the third quarter.

He did not come back in the game, but it’s not clear as to whether the 37-year-old could have or not since the Suns had a large lead for the majority of the fourth quarter.

Paul finished with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting (55.6%), including going 4-for-5 from three-point range for an astounding 80% clip.

He also added six assists, one steal and one rebound in nearly 24 minutes played

The injury bug has not been kind to Phoenix as of late.

The Suns came into Tuesday night’s contest already without the likes of All-Star shooting guard Devin Booker (left groin strain), wings Cam Johnson (meniscus tear) and Landry Shamet (right Achilles soreness), and point guard Cam Payne (right foot strain).

Paul told reporters postgame that he “will be good” for Wednesday’s road game against the Washington Wizards.

Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN 620 AM / 98.7 FM HD-2, the Arizona Sports app and ArizonaSports.com.
