Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy has exited concussion protocols and is expected to start against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Wednesday.

McCoy has appeared in four games this year in place of starter Kyler Murray.

With Murray’s season over due to a torn ACL, McCoy will finish out the final two games of the season.

The concussion suffered Dec. 18 in a loss to the Denver Broncos kept McCoy out of action on Sunday in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Third-stringer Trace McSorley made his first career NFL start in McCoy’s place.

The 36-year-old McCoy has completed 68% of his passes and thrown for 780 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions this season.

He led Arizona to a 27-17 win against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 13 but has lost his last three games played, against San Francisco, New England and Denver.

Arizona (4-11) faces the Falcons on the road and then heads to San Francisco for a Jan. 8 season finale against the 49ers.
