The Phoenix Suns’ G League team, the Valley Suns, will host open tryouts on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex in Tempe.
Those looking to try out can not be considered prospects, international players or players who have been eligible for and participated in an NBA Draft. The team will only accept tryouts from players who are former NBA Draft picks, NBA Summer League participants from 2023 or 2024, Division I All-Americans, Division I All-Conference performers and former 2024 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament attendees.
Applicants must pay a $300 fee to participate and can sign up at thevalleysuns.com/tryouts.
The Valley Suns began building their roster in June of this year after acquiring the rights of 14 players in the G League expansion draft. The team has the rights to these players, but that does not guarantee that they will play for the Valley Suns during the upcoming season.
Suns two-way players Jalen Bridges, Collin Gillespie and TyTy Washington Jr. will likely play for the Valley Suns.
On July 4, the Suns signed Bridges, a forward, to a two-way contract just days before the NBA Summer League began. Bridges averaged 10.8 points and 1.2 steals per game during Summer League.
The Valley Suns recently hired John Little, a former assistant coach for Boston’s G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, as head coach.
The 2024-25 G League season will begin on Nov. 8.
