Raleek Brown, a former top high school recruit and transfer from USC, will be available and is expected to play for the Arizona State Sun Devils on Thursday at Texas State, reports 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
The running back redshirted in 2023 after he recorded statistics in two games as he transitioned from back to receiver. He was dealing with a hamstring injury at the time.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Brown played in all 14 games for the Trojans in 2022 as a true freshman and displayed his versatility. He rushed for 227 yards on 42 carries, caught 16 passes for 175 yards and returned 24 kickoffs for a total of 517 yards.
Brown was a four-star recruit, top-100 overall player and third-rated running back as a high school prospect coming out of Mater Dei High School in California, according to 247 Sports’ rankings.
He could receive looks to give starting running back Cam Skattebo a breather.
Arizona State’s running back room has been utilized heavily through two wins against Wyoming and Mississippi State to start the season.
Skattebo has 44 carries for 311 yards and ranks third on the team with 52 receiving yards on four receptions.
Backup DeCarlos Brooks has added 14 rushes for 71 yards, while Kyson Brown, Jason Brown Jr. and Alton McCaskill have contributed 19 more rushes between them.
Kyson Brown additionally leads the team in receiving yards (73) on just two receptions.
Watch Raleek Brown and ASU visit Texas State with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. MST. Tune to the Arizona Sports app, ESPN 620 AM or 98.7-HD-2 to listen. ESPN will broadcast the game on TV.
