2024-25 Arizona basketball schedule: ASU, Kansas, Baylor and Iowa State featured on TV

The Arizona basketball team got Caleb Love, its star player from the 2023-24 season, to return. Now it enters a more competitive Big 12 Conference known for its basketball roster of 16 teams, and the Wildcats aren’t the lone powerhouse any longer.

The Big 12 released its conference schedules for men’s and women’s basketball on Sept. 26 and on Wednesday set times and television assignments for the full season.

Arizona’s visit to face the rival Arizona State Sun Devils will be featured Feb. 1 on CBS at 11 a.m. MST.

The Sun Devils visit Tucson for a 9 p.m. MST tipoff on ESPN2 or ESPNU on March 4.

The end of the road for Arizona is a visit to face the Kansas Jayhawks on March 8. The regular season finale is one of seven games on ESPN, with several other additions potentially flexing to ESPN from ESPN2 or depending on the team advancing in nonconference tournaments.

Other highlights include an ESPN2 game at Duke on Nov. 22, and ESPN contests against Baylor (Jan. 14, Feb. 17) and Iowa State (Jan. 27, March 1).

With the shift to the Big 12 and out of the Pac-12, lower-profile games will for the most part appear on ESPN+.

It’s an 18-game conference schedule for a league that added Arizona, ASU, Utah and Colorado.

The Wildcats notably return last year’s leading scorer, Love, along with point guard Jaden Bradley and wing K.J. Lewis.

Love averaged 18 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in his first year at Arizona. He tested the draft waters but ultimately opted to return.

Love does so alongside Bradley, a shifty point guard who came off the bench last year and ultimately proved more consistent than departed point guard Kylan Boswell. Lewis also briefly considered going pro based on a strong freshman season where he gained head coach Tommy Lloyd’s trust playing off the bench by making good decisions on offense and playing effortful defense.

Lloyd’s team lost last year’s starting forwards, Pelle Larsson and Keshad Johnson, to the NBA. Boswell and starting center Oumar Ballo transferred.

Arizona reloaded on the wings with transfers Trey Townsend (Oakland) and Tobe Awaka (Tennessee), plus McDonald’s All-American freshman Carter Bryant.

Reserve centers Motiejus Krivas and Henri Veesaar have a path to contribute at center along with four-star recruit Emmanuel Stephen.
