Arizona State basketball legend and current Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden gifted pairs of his Adidas Harden Volume 8 to the Sun Devils men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Last season, Harden donned a pair of special maroon and gold Harden Vol. 8s from Adidas that read “ASU” during warmups and the game at Footprint Center.
However, this is a different pair that has a predominantly black-based upper with yellow overlays that is available at most retailers.

How long has James Harden been with Adidas?
Harden signed a 13-year $200 million deal with Adidas in 2015 after a stint with Nike to begin his professional career. Arizona State agreed to a deal with Adidas that also officially began in 2015, after its own history with Nike.
Harden played two seasons with the Sun Devils before getting drafted No. 3 overall to the Oklahoma City Thunder. His jersey was retired by ASU in 2015.
ASU went 8-22 the year prior to Harden’s arrival in 2007. He then helped lead the Sun Devils to back-to-back 20-win seasons and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009, the school’s first in five years.
In 2008-09, he became the first ASU player to earn consensus First-Team All-America honors. He was named Pac-10 Player of the Year, leading the league in both scoring (20.1 points per game) and steals (1.69 per game).
The ASU men’s basketball team opens its season on Oct. 27 at Duke, while the ASU women’s basketball team has its first game on Nov. 4 against Jacksonville State.
